OG and Greenwich Lions Clubs Merge; Ambassadors of Sight Awards Presented

The Lions Club of Greenwich, Chartered in August 1923, and the Old Greenwich Lions Club, Chartered in May 1933, with a combined 186 years of service to Greenwich, merged in September 2016. Enforcement of Mandatory Watering Ban in Greenwich Allows Greenwich Police to Issue Fines

On Thursday the Board of Selectmen will enact Article 5 of the Town’s ordinances, which pertains to water conservation. The ordinance stems back to the late 1970s, early 1980s when Greenwich’s water supplies dwindled to a just a two-week supply.
On Monday night First Selectman Peter Tesei said that once the ordinance is activated, it will provide Greenwich Police the mechanism to enforce with fines. Continue Reading →

Tesei: Fencing off Fields at Western Middle School Reflects “Abundance of Caution”

After an oral report from Greenwich’s environmental consultant was released, and the Town fenced off Western Middle School fields, land surveyor Michael Finkbeiner challenged Peter Tesei during the First Selectman’s weekly radio show.

Mr. Tesei said the fencing would be installed out of “an abundance of caution,” and that there were not exceedances found at Western. Mr. Finkbeiner replied, “That patently is untrue. There were many exceedances.” Continue Reading →

Jeff Ramer: Single Party Politics Jeopardizes Board of Ed Balance

A new plan would increase the Board of Ed to 10 members serving four-year terms. Five would come up for election every two years, with three of the five to come from the candidates named by the majority Party. Thus six of the ten members on the Board of Ed would be from the candidates named by the Republican Town Committee.
