“Countdown to Summer” Wine Sampling Set for May at Stone Bridge Wine & Spirits

Greenwich Free Press and Stone Bridge Wine & Spirits (formerly LaBella’s Fine Wine & Spirits) are hosting a “Countdown to Summer” wine sampling event on Wed,  May 6 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

Peter Shah, owner of Cos Cob Wine & Spirits, took over the business about a year ago. GFP readers are invited to join GFP editor and readers to check out the store, enjoy some wine and cheese.

The days are getting longer. It won’t be long until summer solstice (Sunday, June 21) so stop by Stone Bridge Wine & Spirits at the intersection of Sheephill and Valley in Riverside  – a scenic and historic area overlooking Mianus Pond. There is some parking out front, but also around the corner along Sheephill.

The store underwent a major renovation and rebranding under owner Peter Shah. He opened Stone Bridge Wine & Spirits in February, then closed for 10 days for the renovation, including new lighting and shelving.

Stone Bridge Wine & Spirits sits at the juncture of Sheephill/Palmer hill/Valley Rd. The bridge over the Mianus River was one of Connecticut’s earliest bridges circa 1687 where Palmer Hill meets the Mianus River at Valley Road. It was a critical development for the growth of the town. April 14, 2026 Photo: Leslie Yager

Shah renamed the former LaBella’s to Stone Bridge Wine & Spirits in honor of the historic Palmer Hill Road Bridge across the street. He said he liked suggestions to rename the store in honor of the historic Palmer Hill Road bridge that dates back to 1687. It is one of the historic assets protected by the Scenic Road designation approved by Greenwich in P&Z commission in 2024.

He has a wide selection of fine wines, beers and premium spirits.

“I’m here to cater to my customers,” Shah said, adding that his inventory reflects the requests of his regular customers.
