Greenwich DTC Statement on Improper Surveillance at Town Hall

“Of course, an investigation might not have been necessary if Mr. Dadakis had simply revealed who had supplied him with the surveillance photo. But when asked to do so in early 2019, Mr. Dadakis said that he did not recall where he had gotten the photo. Things took a different turn during the police investigation. The police report does not indicate that Mr. Dadakis denied recalling who had given him the photo. Rather, he claimed that he was not required to answer the police’s questions, invoking the journalist’s privilege (apparently based on the fact that he has a blog).” – Greenwich DTC Statement Submitted by DTC chair Joe Angland Continue Reading →

SPYGATE: Greenwich Police Investigation into Mysterious Town Hall Images Is Complete

“During the police investigation Ed Dadakis declined to answer questions by asserting that he was a “reporter” and had a “reporter’s privilege” that allegedly shielded him from having to answer any questions. [Mr. Dadakis, who initially claimed he could not recall how he got the photo, has no known press credentials and his LinkedIn page sets forth his employment as an executive with Aon, a professional services firm. He is also a high profile member, and former head of, the Town Republican Party.]” – Joanna Swomley Continue Reading →

We are sitting here today rapidly approaching 90 days since it was brought to anyone’s attention, giving those involved plenty of time to destroy records and cover up the tracks.” – Tony Turner, DTC Chair Continue Reading →

A year ago, Greenwich native and former Navy Seal Carl Higbie, was riding high. The married father of two who served two tours in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom, was a regular on Fox and CNN. Indivisible Response to Tesei Op-Ed Asking What is the “Trump Agenda”?

“Peter Tesei and Richard DiPreta asked, ‘What is the Trump agenda in Greenwich?’ These two leaders of the Greenwich Republican party purport not to know what Trumpism (a term now part of our vocabulary) is and how it impacts our Town. While this may be feigned ignorance, it is nonetheless useful to answer their question as Indivisible Greenwich attempts to do every day.” – Indivisible, Joanna Swomley, and about two dozen residents Continue Reading →

Swomley: Singular Focus on Mill Rate is Misplaced

“For those advocating “fiscal freedom” and focusing solely on the mill rate, I urge you to recognize that there is another side to the equation—having a reserve for contingencies as well as things our town needs to enhance its schools, buildings, fields, traffic. Are we taking this into account or we ignoring them to reduce the mill rate by .092 just so we can say we lowered taxes?” – Joanna Swomley Continue Reading →

Letter: NPV Compact does no violence to the Electoral College

“The Electoral College came into existence as a safety brake on a great democratic experiment.

The founders were afraid that the masses could not necessarily be trusted to protect against tyranny. Additionally, at the time there were structural impediments to electing a president on a national level that no longer exist today.” – Joanna Swomely Continue Reading →
