The class of 1975, 904 members strong, are all invited to their 40th reunion the weekend of Oct. 23-25. The reunion committee met this week to talk about their plans and share memories of a time when hitch hiking and smoking cigarettes was no big deal. “I’ve seen drug deals in school. When you go into the bathroom during or in-between classes, you’ll see kids smoking weed or electronic cigarettes, which the fire alarms can’t detect… drug use is so prevalent and nobody is stopping the clear issue. And this is a teen saying this. I’m saying, ‘Great, we understand there’s a problem. The incoming 9th grade class of AVID students were welcomed by upperclassmen in AVID who vowed for the inspiration and support system it provides. More than one described it as like family. After the introduction all 48 students and their parents signed contracts and came together for a group photograph. A roster of go-kart race teams, mostly from Brunswick, Greenwich Academy, Sacred Heart, Greenwich Country Day and Greenwich High School took to the race track for a good cause on Friday night. Grand Prix New York in Mt. Kisco was the venue for a benefit for Project Yellow Light, a non-profit that raises awareness of the perils of distracted driving.
This year’s race at Grand Prix marked the third annual fundraiser for the non-profit. The race was conceived by GHS grad Ben Albano and has carried on through the efforts of his family.
This year Addison Albano and his club co-president Owen Gerber did the lion’s share of the legwork and the result was a representation from all the high schools in Town and a lot of fun. Continue Reading →
Roberta Brown Brugo of Greenwich Hospital’s Healing Touch program explained the fight-or-flight response to stressful situations. “But what’s happening now is that we’re staying in that stressed response, and we’re not learning how to provide ourselves soothing techniques to become calm,” she said before going over techniques to relieve stress in healthy ways that are Physical, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual.
