Amy Dixon Celebrates Elvis’s Retirement with a Party at YMCA of Greenwich

Friends and family gathered on Saturday night at the YMCA of Greenwich to celebrate the retirement of Elvis. The Guiding Eyes for the Blind dog, at 8-1/2 years old, has worked for Amy Dixon throughout illness and on the road to becoming a standout para athlete. Dixon competes in paratriathlons and Elvis has traveled both near and far with her. In his retirement he will enjoy hiking, kayaking and snacking in northern Connecticut with Dixon’s mother. CHAMPS Canine Hero, “Dino,” Pays Visits Students at Beacon School

Students at Beacon School met a CHAMPS dog who is a true canine hero. Dino, a German shepherd just returned from mine detection duty in Afghanistan. From St. Mary’s Church Yard to All of Our Hearts: Clancy Lives On

Bill and Barbara Gorgas adopted two Golden Retrievers who had belonged to the Monsigneur at St. Mary’s Church on Greenwich Avenue. So many people recognized the dogs from their romps in the church yard. The Gorgases had Clancy and Chase, who were brothers, for just over a year when Clancy died suddenly of a form of cancer that was not detected during his recent vet check and blood work. The Gorgas learned the type of cancer is common with Golden Retrievers and started ClancysCure an endowment to raise funds for research for a cure. Continue Reading →
