When a caller to Ask the Selectman asked Peter Tesei if anything could be done about Greenwich overcrowded beaches on weekends, he was sympathetic and acknowledged he’s heard the complaint many times this year. After Scolding on Sidewalk Sales Missteps, Greenwich Chamber Looks to 2016

The First Selectman recently explained issues with this summer’s sidewalk sales event. “The chamber has gone and sold space to other merchants that don’t have locations in the central business district. That in itself is frankly questionable… Having a vendor park themselves adjacent to the World War II memorial on Greenwich Avenue is tacky and disrespectful. We have to have some semblance of order,” he said. Greenwich’s Gershom Lockwood III House c 1750 on Dingletown May Become Protected

At Friday’s Boad of Selectmen meeting the historic Gershom Lockwood III House came a step closer to being protected. The Selectmen gave their blessing for the Town’s Historic District Commission to be the official study group, subject to RTM approval, to determine whether the 18th century house is worthy of the status. If so, it will be preserved by law. Future owners would need HDC permission to alter or add onto the house. Continue Reading →
