Families gathered outside the Greenwich Police headquarters last weekend for the department’s 2026 Police Day, an open house event designed to give residents a closer look at the many divisions and responsibilities within the department.
Throughout the day, officers showcased specialized units including the SWAT team, dive team, and the department’s expanding drone program. Police vehicles and equipment were displayed outside headquarters as children and families had the opportunity to speak directly with officers about their roles and training.

Members of the Greenwich Police Explorers were also present, helping demonstrate equipment and interacting with younger attendees interested in law enforcement and public service. Several high ranking officers spent time speaking with children and answering questions about policing in Greenwich.
Inside the department, visitors were guided through tours of the building, including dispatch operations, the holding area, and the department garage.
Officers explained how each section contributes to the day to day operations of the department and helps support emergency response efforts across town.
The event focused on community engagement and transparency, giving residents a rare behind the scenes look at the work performed by the Greenwich Police Department while allowing officers and families to connect in a relaxed setting.
