Throughout the day, officers showcased specialized units including the SWAT team, dive team, and the department drone program. Police vehicles and equipment were displayed outside headquarters as children and families had the opportunity to speak directly with officers about their roles and training.

Greenwich is quiet this week, but a rally to kick-off a petition campaign for a delayed start time for Greenwich High School drew a sizable crowd to Town Hall Thursday night. It was pointed out that GHS started later until the Mianus Bridge collapsed. To alleviate congestion on roadways school start was changed from 7:50 am to 7:30. It’s easy to miss if you’ve never been to Scarpelli’s sausage store in Cos Cob. Located at 45 Bible Street for almost a century, the store, which sells sausage, beer and soda, is grandfathered into its residential neighborhood. Even the landline, established in 1920, remains in service. These days Patricia “Pat” Scarpelli owns he business and property. Her brother in law Peter “Mac” makes the sausage, which comes in several varieties. Juice Press customers can now pickup juices, smoothies, and organic food without getting out of their cars. Juice Press is offering curbside pickup in Greenwich. Customers call the store and place their order, pay over the phone, then give a call as they pull up to the curb. A Juice Press employee will run their order out to the car. The Juice Press location in Greenwich has a variety of products from green juices and bottled smoothies to fresh foods like kale salads, vegan sushi, raw oatmeal, chia puddings, and avocado toast. In March 2012, a woman who had been operating her 2005 Ford sedan traveling north on Riversville Rd between lost control, crossed over the double yellow line, left the roadway and rolled over. She was able to extricate herself from the vehicle and suffered only minor injuries. The investigating officer observed Centurione to be highly intoxicated and combative with emergency medical personnel at scene. She was released after posting bond but failed to appear in court. A rally to raise awareness and build momentum toward a delayed morning start time in Greenwich Public Schools is being organized by Board of Ed member Peter von Braun. The event is set for Thursday, August 2o at 7:00pm in the meeting room at Greenwich Town Hall. Mr. von Braun has also started a petition that can be accessed and signed online via his website.
