In 2024, the Riverside Garden Club restored the herb garden at the Cottage where hops plants were discovered – possibly similar to those used to make ale in the Knapp’s Tavern.
The Riverside Garden Club invites all to join them for a tour of the Colonial Herb Garden and light refreshments.
Two Roads Brewery of Stratford has generously volunteered to brew ale using the hops grown at the colonial garden. Come sample what George Washington would have been served at the Knapp’s Tavern during his traverse through Greenwich 250 years ago.
Parking for the event will be available both at the Cottage and across the street at Christ Church.
The garden club thanks the Putnam Cottage leadership and the generosity of Two Roads Brewery for making this event possible.
