Eager for AVID All Summer Long! Scholarships Help GHS AVID Grads Stay in College!

“AVID students are totally prepared academically. We don’t want finances to be the reason they don’t finish,” said Julie Faryniarz, the executive director of the Greenwich Alliance for Education. On Tuesday the Alliance’s scholarship committee announced $10,000 in scholarships to applicants from the GHS AVID class of ’13 and 14 (rising sophomores and juniors in college) for the upcoming school year. Once Again with Enthusiasm: Getting a Phony ID is a Felony

Nearby in Darien, the police have come across several young people in possession of fraudulent or “fake IDs.” It’s been determined that the main sources of these counterfeit licenses are online retailers. Most most violators don’t understand is that simply having a fake ID in their wallet is a violation of Forgery in the Second Degree (in Connecticut). Fusion Academy Greenwich to Offer One-on-One Teaching Model

Fusion Academy Greenwich will open at 66 Gatehouse Road in Stamford, just over the town line on Sept. 8. The school offers a one-on-one educational model. And though this will be Fusion’s 31st academy, and open go kids in grades 6-12, it is the organization’s first school in Connecticut. Greenwich Free Press visited Fusion White Plains campus recently for a tour of the facility, which will be replicated at the Greenwich school come September. Greenwich Boy Scouts Trek 144 miles in New Mexico Wilderness over 12 Days

Boy Scouts from local Greenwich Troops 35, 10 and 5 went to New Mexico’s Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Cimarron where they hiked 144 miles 12 days. The crew leader was Eagle Scout Will Freder from Troop 35 who will be a senior at Greenwich High School in the fall. Other crew members included, Elias Boyer, James Gordon, Jamie Heavey, Luke Kaiser, Carlos Maldonado Jr., TJ Peck, Nico Matejak and Eric Parker.
