As of the end of March, $192,644 in legal fees from the First Selectman have been paid out of the law department budget, and $304,002 in school board legal fees have been invoiced but not paid. Given almost all the interest in CMS open enrollment originated from Western Middle School students, new board member Paul Cappiali suggested the superintendent seek a legal opinion on whether enrollment might be limited to Eastern Middle School students. Jones said as a result of an agreement with St Paul’s Church on King Street, the district was able to remove buses from Julian Curtiss School where staff had been parking in the grass.
