LETTER: Greenwich, Stand Up, Speak Up

Submitted by Matt DeForest, Greenwich

Dear Fellow Greenwich Residents,

This letter is a PSA to encourage all residents to sign-up to speak either virtually or in person at the upcoming Board of Education meetings. Whether you support or oppose the current policies of the Board it is important that they, as elected officials, are informed of your opinion.

If you think they are doing a great job, let them know. If you think they need to change/address/remediate something, bring it to their attention.

The schedule of upcoming meets can be found on the Greenwich Board of Ed website at:

https://www.greenwichschools.org/board-of-education

Additionally, the speaker sign up form can be found on the virtual meetings page at:

https://www.greenwichschools.org/board-of-education/accessing-virtual-boe-meetings

Sign-up is open until noon on the day of the meetings.

Check out some of the public comment on the Board of Ed YouTube page at:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9MB1GDjhIDDTxyPm3Tlq5w

These videos will give you an idea of what other residents have been saying. You may find you agree or disagree with someone who has spoken. This could lead to more community connections among like-minded individuals as well as a continued dialogue beyond the dinner table.

Encourage your friends and neighbors to sign up to speak. The more discourse and diversity of opinion, the more we benefit as a Town and community. We live in the greatest Town in the greatest nation on Earth precisely because of who we are and the values we hold. Let’s make sure we keep it that way by making our voices heard.

Hope to see you at the next meeting!
