GFP Week in Review, April 20-27

It was a busy week in Greenwich with Earth Day and Arbor Day serving as bookends to the work week. The April Board of Education meeting was the source of a half dozen stories, including Town Attorney Wayne Fox’s report on the investigation of Bart Palosz’s death. The Night Sky: Nova Delphini 2013

On August 14, 2013 a small faint white dwarf star went Nova. Located 13000 light years away in the constellation Delphinus, it was discovered with a small telescope by an amateur astronomer in Japan. Novae of this type occur when a small white dwarf star pulls gas off of a large close companion star. The gas builds up on the white dwarf star until it reaches a critical limit and explodes. The star remains intact, but the exploding gas transforms the faint star into a brilliant star for several months. Continue Reading →

Tiny New York Kitchen: Deviled Eggs Four Ways

I like basic deviled eggs, but if you’d like to mix it up a bit here are some unique deviled egg options for you and your family. Basic Deviled Eggs

INGREDIENTS

6 Hard Boiled Eggs
1/4 Cup Mayonnaise
1 Teaspoon Mustard (I Like To Use Yellow Mustard)
1 Teaspoon Vinegar
Paprika (Optional)
Parsley Sprigs (Optional)

Boil eggs and remove shells. Halve eggs lengthwise and gently remove yolks. Set Whites aside. Place yolks in small bowl and mash with a fork. Continue Reading →
