North Mianus School found a way to raise $5,000+ for Neighbor to Neighbor through an online food drive, a “Turkey Fowl” free throw basketball contest and having their PE teachers shave their heads into mohawks. Continue Reading →
Backpacks were presented to Jennifer Bencivengo, the summer school coordinator, at North Mianus School for 3-5 year olds at Greenwich Schools summer enrichment program.

Students are raising money to fund MDD (Mine Detection Dog) “Emily,” named in honor of former North Mianus student Emily Fedorko. On Sunday, April 24, from 9:00-12:00, the students of North Mianus and Cos Cob are hosting CHAMPathon to help raise money and get them closer to their goal of $25,000 (the cost of a mine detection dog). At North Mianus School, the annual Fruit and Veggie Challenge served up a rainbow of fun. During the annual healthy fruit and vegetable challenge students sampled everything from mangoes and yellow peppers to blueberries and cucumbers. Again, Stop & Shop was the primary sponsor of the week-long challenge. Students maintained charts tallying a week of servings of fruits and vegetables. The class with the most participation won an extra 15 minutes of recess, though it might not be cashed in until the weather warms up a bit. Continue Reading →
All four first grade homerooms had a chance to learn about African drumming from Henry Jones of Infinite Roots. Mr. Jones wove in geography and history lessons, while giving all the children a chance to improvise and experiment with all the percussion instruments. Jenn Bencivengo, the assistant principal at North Mianus School has a baby, a big job and time to volunteer with the Junior League of Greenwich. This week 16 students signed up to make gingerbread houses with themes based on famous artists to be auctioned or purchased at the Junior League’s 38th annual Enchanted Forest later this month.
