Bob DeAngelo, who was once a little boy in Chickahominy, living in an apartment on Railroad Ave and attending St. Roch’s when it was a grade school, came full circle on Veteran’s Day. He visited the after-school program that is now part of the YMCA, and let the children try on his Navy Pilot’s uniform. It’s never too late to say, “Thank you and welcome home.” Bruce Winningham connected with 50 local Vietnam veterans as he planned the third annual Veterans Day Community Walk, which was spared rain and enjoyed a good turnout. After the walk down Greenwich Avenue and remarks from several speakers, Mr. Winningham read aloud the names of the 50 Vietnam veterans. He had the group come forward. The large crowd applauded and there was a chorus of voices saying, “Thank You and Welcome Home.” Continue Reading →
