Greenwich Avenue is all dressed up for the holidays. With thousands of tiny white lights, that is! Linda Sigler, the project manager for Light up Greenwich, in which Greenwich Green & Clean was instrumental, said, “We’re thrilled with the response we’ve received! The community, the merchants and the landlords tontinue to step up to fund this project.”
Sigler said right now the project has reached the 59% mark toward their goal of $100,000, which reflects $34,000 for the lights, the balance going to electricians and tree workers. The lights are called C6 Strawberry lights. They’re LED and reusable.
Back in July a press conference was staged to announce the ambitious effort on the part of LightUpGreenwich.org to illuminate 175 trees in time for Thanksgiving. Their goal was to finish by Nov. 20. But on Nov. 11, Veteran’s Day, Greenwich Ave came alive with lights. The sight at dusk was breathtaking. The lights will remain throughout the 2015-16 holiday season!
