Cardinals JV Boys Hockey Lose in Tie-Breaker at Brunswick

In a nail-biter of a game, GHS Cardinals were leading Brunswick 5-4, but with just 19 seconds on the clock,  Brunswick scored, bringing the two teams to a 5-5 tie. With 5 minutes added to the clock for a show-down, Brunswick scored, winning the game 6-5. Kudos to GHS sophomore Daniel Gazaille, Cardinals goalie, who fended off countless shots at goal. Next year, Greenwich Free Press will start earlier in the season and cover more games. What great fun! Continue Reading →

UPDATE: Two’s Company Closes on Greenwich Ave

UPDATE Feb. 19, 10:30a.m.: GFP spoke to Marsha Stocker, the real estate agent from Love Realty in White Plains who has the listing for 68 Greenwich Avenue. Stocker said that because Two’s Company was a “concept store,” the intention of the owners was never to remain permanently on Greenwich Ave., but rather to garner information through a retail outlet. “The owners sell to the trade and they did it to get information. They never intended to stay forever,” said Stocker, who said Two’s Company holds amazing sales in Elmsford  at 500 Saw Mill River Rd. Continue Reading →

The Night Sky: Jupiter

By Rick Bria

Jupiter can be found high in the southeast sky just after dark. It looks like a very bright star in the constellation Gemini, but viewed through a telescope Jupiter reveals its true nature as a huge gas giant planet with swirling bands of clouds and four Galilean moons. This picture of Jupiter was taken January 10, 2014 at the Mary Aloysia Hardey Observatory at Convent of the Sacred Heart. I used a 16” LX200 telescope with a Canon DSLR camera in movie crop mode. The resultant data was processed in RegiStax6 and Photoshop software. Continue Reading →

The News is Blues…But It’s All Good for Greenwich Blues Youth Hockey

Congratulations to the Greenwich Blues local youth hockey, who just had two tournament  wins:  a bronze in Lake Placid and a gold in the Ocean State Classic in Providence, RI. Congratulations to the Pee Wee B team for winning a Bronze Medal at the CHE Lake Placid Tournament. Even though the team began the tournament rather slowly, they continued to improve, building momentum and definitely brought their “A” game to the medal round. Regulation ended in to 2-2 tie and, after surviving the 4-on-4 overtime, Kieran Sullivan put the team ahead in the shootout. Like the Greenwich Blues on Facebook. Continue Reading →
