School Start Time Forum: Parents Decry Scare Tactics, Warn Against Putting Budget over Teen Health

About 50 turned out for the first of four school start time forums on Tuesday night at Western Middle School. About two dozen parents spoke, including Board of Ed candidates Gaetane Francis, Anthony Lopez and Lauren Rabin. Julian Curtiss Elementary School Celebrates 2nd Annual Family Fun Day

During the Julian Curtiss family fun day, dads were grilling hot dogs on the barbecues, while other parent and older sibling volunteers sold homemade chili, baked goods, and other food generously donated by local vendors. Caught in the Act on Greenwich Avenue!

Glenville School students Lola Castro (1st grade), Katelyn Strizver (3rd grade), Alexander Strizver (kindergarten) and Matthew Strizver were on a mission this week. As part of their Dare 2 Care experiment they patrolled Greenwich Ave and Starbucks after schoolthis week, looking for patrons were were unplugged. Wearing matching yellow t-shirts that read “Be Here. Log Off. Listen In,” the foursome introduced themselves to dozens of people, offering those who were not using devicces or ear buds with handmade egg crate and pipecleaner “bees.” Continue Reading →

Dare 2 Care if You See Greenwich’s Littlest Students Approach You with a Bee

Can you go one day without social media? Can you log off and listen? That is part of the program for Log off and Listen Day on Wednesday, an effort of Greenwich Schools toward the goal of social-emotional learning. Greenwich High School Students Organize for Change in Start Time

Students are organizing at Greenwich High School to lobby for a delayed start time. On Tuesday after school several students who said they were exhausted, began to brainstorm.
