Greenwich High School Water Polo Team Boosted by Greenwich Old Timers Association

The Greenwich High School Water Polo program started in 1974 and has been an East Coast powerhouse ever since.

The Cardinals are a perennial contender for best high school team outside of California. To continue to excel at a high level the team seeks to play against the best competition possible.

Over the years the program has traveled to Canada, Michigan, and Texas. And, in the past two years to they’ve traveled to water polo hotbed California to challenge the best.

Also, every year the team travels to The Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD and to Pennsylvania to play in the biggest scholastic high school tournament in the country.

“To make these trips possible, the team does as much as they can to raise the appropriate funding,” said coach Jimmy Ramaley.

“We ask parents, families and friends to donate to the booster club. We run a fundraising night at Joey B’s in Cos Cob. And we make a program for our annual Cardinal Tournament that features advertisements from local businesses,” Ramaley said, adding that the Greenwich Old Timers Association recently awarded the team with $2,000 to help them keep year-end costs for players as low as possible.

“We are very grateful for the support we have received from the town and school and it is always a privilege to represent Greenwich High School throughout travels,” Ramaley added.
