Sleep Deprived Teens? Tuesday Brings School Start-Time Online Survey and a Panel Discussion

On Tuesday May 26 Greenwich Schools are publishing an online survey for parents, students in 8012th grade, and staff district wide to gauge the level of interest for a delayed start time at GHS. It would impact the entire district, as well as contracts and budgets. Also, on Tuesday night there is a panel discussion on the topic at 7pm at Central Middle school. Get informed. GHS Student Government Leader’s Farewell: Sometimes Failing is Succeeding

Outgoing GHS student government president Blake Reinken said he had failed in his goals as student government leader. But the truth is he didn’t pick easy battles. He was passionate about ending the litter problem in the student center. He was key in organizing the die-in protest back in December to protest the deaths of Eric Garner in Staten Island and Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. Blake also battled to expand the GHS Cardinal Café to include Chicken Joe’s menu items. The Food Service Department rejected the proposal and students continue to walk or drive to Chicken Joe’s, or call for delivery to the bus circle. Continue Reading →

PHOTOS: Glenville Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

On Sunday the Glenville Memorial Day parade made its way down Gllenville Street to the Fire House, where speakers included US Senator Richard Blumenthal, State Representatives Mike Bocchino, Livvy Floren and Fred Camillo. First Selectman Peter Tesei, who grew up in Glenville, also spoke to the crowd of about 200. Pippa Leigh of Greenwich, who is Miss Hockanum Valley, also spoke about the value of freedom and her appreciation of veterans. Continue Reading →
