Catterton, the consumer-focused private equity firm who purchased 599 West Putnam Ave on Aug 6 for $22 million, went before the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) on Wednesday night after Planning & Zoning left the item open last week. If you’re a fan of The Rummage Room in Old Greenwich, then you know Maria Drieghe. After 20 years spent at “the best little shop in town,” Maria is retiring. It all began one day in 1995 when Maria’s car broke down and she came into The Rummage Room to use the phone. The rest is history. The Rummage Room is closed for renovations and restocking through August 23. The shop’s long anticipated GRAND REOPENING is set for August 24! The recent warm weather and frequent rain events have increased the ability for mosquitoes to breed. Residents are encouraged to protect themselves whenever they are outdoors and be vigilant of standing water in discarded tires, birdbaths and catch basins. Suggestions include eliminating collected water in boat or pool covers and keeping grass cut short and shrubbery well trimmed around the house so adult mosquitoes cannot hide. Get rid of old tires, tin cans, buckets, drums, bottles or any water holding containers.
