Greenwich Harbormaster Warns Boaters to Prep for Major Storm Event

“I would add that this will be a quick moving wind and rain event with an emphasis on the rain. Bilge pumps should be checked, cleared and backed up with fresh or charged batteries. Items must be secured from the effects of sustained winds of 35 knots or more for at least ten hours. Chafing gear must be in good serviceable condition and, if possible, backed up with extra lines. 28 New Snow Emergency Streets Brings Greenwich’s Total to 88

The Board of Selectmen recently voted to add 20 new snow emergency routes, bringing the total to 88 in Town. Familiarize yourselves with the routes, which are scattered throughout town, so you don’t get ticketed or towed in the next storm. Greenwich Snow & Ice Control Budget Running Low

The Town’s snow and ice removal budget as running low. Greenwich’s Highway Division receives reports in from Greenwich Police via the public safety dispatch, and responds by sending out crews to salt and sand. In his weekly radio show on WGCH the First Selectman said the Town’s snow and ice removal budget as running low and that it appears all the salting and sanding, combined with prolonged extreme cold have taken a toll on the roads. Police Advisory: Dangerous Cold and Wind for Sunday Afternoon through Monday Morning

Gusty winds and dangerous wind chills, with snow off and on for Sunday and Monday, though snow should not amount to more than a few “easily managed” inches.
