First Selectman Voices Fears of Remediation, Knowns Vs Unknowns, at Special Meeting with New Lebanon Architects

First Selectman PeterTesei reminded Tai Soo Kim architects that many factors could bring the New Lebanon School project to a standstill, including remediation.
“We’re dealing with things that are unknowns. Has all the geological testing been done in there? …Talk to us in terms of the environmental assessment you’ve done with this land that would assure us that the moment we put a shovel in the ground that we’re not going to be hit with some type of impediment,” Tesei said. In response, Ryszard Szczypek of Tai Soo Kim Architects, said, “This is not a filled site, except for the portion where I95 was created and elevated. Legislative Breakfast: Talk Turns to Fentanyl, Drug Sniffing Dogs & Drug-Dependent Newborns

Communities 4 Action held a legislative breakfast in Stamford on Monday. Led by Ingrid Gillespie and Stephanie Paulmeno, the goal was to address gaps in the substance abuse continuum: prevention, intervention, treatment and aftercare. Legislators included US Congressman Jim Himes (D), State Rep Mike Bocchino (R), State Senator Scott Frantz (R), Carlo Leone (D) and State Rep Tom O’Dea (R).
A frank discussion touched on a trend of drug dealers using Fentanyl to boost yield of the Heroin they sell. There was also discussion of the increase of newborns coming into the world with drug dependencies. Continue Reading →
