Greenwich Wears Orange to Honor Victims and Survivors of Gun Violence

According to First Selectman Fred Camillo’s proclamation, the day honors the birthday of Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old high school student who was shot and killed as an innocent bystander in a park in Chicago in 2013. Caught between Town Noise Ordinance and Declined Request for Funds for Electric Leaf Blowers, DPW, Parks & Rec Issue Joint Statement

Greenwich’s gas leaf blower ban will start the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, impacting commercial landscapers, residents and both Parks & Rec and DPW. On Thursday, DPW commissioner Jim Michel and Parks and Rec director Joe Siciliano issued a joint statement with plans to respond to the lack of town funding to purchase electric leaf blower equipment for their departments.
