At the April Parks & Rec board meeting, Jeff Freitag, Superintendent of Marine Facilities & Operations, gave a marine, boat and beaches updates. The town has hired its beach crew and ticket sellers, but they still seek to hire more lifeguards. Last summer there were 465,500 visitors to Greenwich Point, 53,000 visitors to Byram and 31,000 took the ferry to Island Beach, and 3,300 to took the ferry to Great Captain’s Island. Perfect Day for 8th Annual “Experience the Sound” at Greenwich Point

Kudos to the person who ordered up the perfect weather on Sunday for the “Experience the Sound” event, organized by the Bruce Museum and the Town’s Shellfish Commission. The event included tours of a shellfishing boat and a free raw bar! Several organizations set up under tents outside Innis Arden Cottage, and a fleet of Bruce Museum Seaside Center volunteers did a bit of show and tell with the sea life for kids of all ages.
