PHOTOS: Selectmen to Tour Proposed New Leb School Site, Delay MI Vote Pending Environmental Tests

The Board of Selectmen did not vote on granting MI status of the proposed school project, holding off until environmental tests are complete. They did vote in favor of advancing the application to the RTM for state of Connecticut Services in order to be eligible for a school construction grant. They agreed to hold the MI decision for Mid-May, and in the meantime decided to schedule a visit to walk the proposed building site in person. Continue Reading →

UPDATE: NMS Field Trip Bus Crashed After Unlicensed Operator of Car Failed to Maintain Lane

According to the State Police, the driver of the car involved in the accident was “cited for Failure to Maintain Proper Lane and for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License and was issued an infraction ticket. Town Marinas Report: Pruning “Giant” Boat Slip Wait Lists, Upgrades and Future Projects

At the April Parks & Rec meeting, Superintendent of Marine Facilities and Operations, Jeff Freitag, said that all Town marinas have opened as planned for the season. Parks & Rec this week received of a report from Roberge Associates Coastal Engineers summarizing on site investigations, including vessel berthing assignments and hydrographic surveys on all five facilities. He said the goal is to have equal facilities. As for waiting lists, back in the 1960s an 18 ft boat was considered big. These days 20 ft and 24 ft boats are more common, but there is limited space for boat slips at Town Marinas. “We could probably build two more marinas and fill them overnight. We just don’t have the space available to put that many. That’s one of the things that triggered the review,” Mr. Freitag said of the Roberge report. Continue Reading →
