At the CIAC Class LL boys outdoor track championships in New Britain on May 30, the Cardinals celebrated earning the team title, finishing ahead of rivals from Hamden. But the win was overturned by CIAC after a religious accommodation allowed a Hamden athlete to compete in the MM meet the following day, Sunday and have his points apply to the previous day’s event. The situation is unprecedented. GHS athletes and parents asked the CIAC to review how the situation was handled.
Sacred Heart Greenwich celebrated the graduation of its 177th class, comprising 69 young women on Friday. Among the 69 graduates, Sacred Heart Greenwich celebrated nine “lifers” who attended the school since Lower School and 12 student-athletes committed to continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level.

The Western Debate Team went up against 81 other teams consisting of 224 debaters from 23 different schools. The topic debated was “This House believes that Artificial Intelligence will do more good than harm.” Western won six of the debates in the three rounds of competition and the loses were extremely close, with one round lost by just 1/2 a point. Meet Gladys, a dog available for adoption at Greenwich Animal Control. “Gladys is sweet and soulful,” said Animal Control Officer Suzanne Carlin on Monday morning. Carlin explained that Gladys was found abandoned in Bruce Park. Since arriving at Animal Control, Gladys, who Carlin guesses is about 8 or 9, has been getting along with the other dogs. The Health Dept Lab at Greenwich Town Hall offers tick testing. If a tick is found on a person – either dead or alive – it should be removed carefully with a long nosed tweezer.
