Eighty-two years ago, on June 6, 1944, courageous Americans and Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy and changed the course of history.
D-Day wasn’t just a military operation. It was a defense of democracy, freedom, and human dignity.

For me, this day is personal. My grandparents were forced to flee Nazi Germany, losing their home and many family members and friends. Their journey to safety in America gave our family a future and taught me that democracy is precious — and never guaranteed.
Today, we remember and honor the heroes of D-Day and all who’ve served our country. Their sacrifice reminds us that our freedom requires courage, constant vigilance, and participation from each of us.
Here in Connecticut, and across our country, may we continue to meet that responsibility with humility, gratitude, and a renewed commitment to the values that bind us together. By doing this, we carry their legacy forward.
