An action item at the end of Thursday’s school board meeting on extending the Superintendent’s contract ended in a tie vote, which meant the motion to extend failed. The vote came at the end of a long meeting, on the heels of the board’s 5-3 vote in favor of a bell to bell cell phone ban at the Greenwich High School.
Around 1pm on Wednesday a driver crashed into a parked car on East Putnam Ave near Cos Cob School and kept driving.

Four men were arrested at Chase Bank on Sound Beach Ave on Sept 18 by Greenwich Police. Police received a report of a subject attempting to commit a fraudulent transaction. Police say Tommy Cruz of 88th Ave in Queens attempted to fraudulently withdraw money from an account that was not his. Additionally he possessed falsified documents and impersonated the account owner. After an investigation and based on bank employee statements Mr. Cruz was charged with Criminal Attempt Larceny 3, illegal Payment Card Fraud, Identity Theft 3, Criminal Impersonation, Forgery 2, and Forgery 3. As alleged in the indictment, Lenny Pollak owned a Norwalk-based company that organized trade shows and expositions throughout the US. In mid-2013, Pollak induced an acquaintance to invest $290,000 in a new business venture that was supposed to organize similar expositions in the Ukraine. Instead of using the money to build the new business, Pollak spent nearly all of it on unrelated business and personal expenses, including Pollak’s home mortgage loan, groceries and clothing, automobiles, and private school tuition.
