DeCicco & Sons held their long anticipated grand opening of their store in Greenwich on Wednesday morning. The opening of store in the Glenville neighborhood marked the family-owned grocer’s first location in the Connecticut and its first expansion beyond New York.
The new store, located at 21 Glenville Street, is the site of the former Stop & Shop, but the entire 20,000-square-foot market has been transformed and DeCicco & Son’s signature tower has been added.
Also there is expanded parking at the rear of the store, and signage directs patrons to drive behind the building.
In fact the entire shopping center has been transformed since the former post office building was renovated and is now home to eateries including Green & Tonic, Luca’s Pizzeria and Italian Kitchen, Longford’s Ice Cream and Bluebird Taqueria.
DeCicco & Sons was founded in 1973 when John DeCicco Sr convinced his family to acquire a little grocery store in the Bronx, where he worked as a delivery boy. It all began at this storefront in the Bronx, offering a choice of high-quality food to its growing array of customers. For over 50 years, DeCicco & Sons has had a proud history of bringing the largest selection of high-quality food available to customers with a friendly, personal touch.

Inside the new store in Glenville there beautiful displays of produce, pastries, cakes, prepared foods and hot bar, baked goods, cheeses, meats and seafood. The delicatessen counter provides sliced cold cuts, cheeses, and ready-to-eat prepared foods like salads. Click here for all the departments.
