French Florist, a Fragrant Oasis on the Port Chester-Greenwich Line

Port Chester is claiming a new flower shop, French Florist, but the shop is so close to the state line that both the Greenwich Chamber of Commerce and the The Port Chester – Rye Brook – Town of Rye  Chambers did a joint ribbon cutting on Wednesday.

Business owner, Dana Dan-Crisan, who left a career in the corporate world for a more fragrant franchise opportunity with French Florist, opened after a renovation that resulted in a fresh, new look for the space.

During the ribbon cutting, attended by elected officials from both sides of the state line, former Port Chester Mayor Fritz Falanka recalled the time the space was a popular watering hole for locals.

Ms Dan-Crisan said her shop specializes in luxury floral design and same day flower delivery across Westchester County and nearby Connecticut communities.

The shop is located in the traffic island the features Carvel and the PC Stand by, adjacent to the Byram River, a stone’s throw from Byram.

“It’s been wonderful,” Dan-Crisan said. “We have been very well received since opening four months ago.”

“We have distribution from all over the world. We get flowers from Thailand, Poland, Canada, Colombia, Eduador – all over the world,” she added.

Ms Dan-Crisan said the shop has been busy supplying custom arrangements for a variety of occasions including events with Miller Motorcars, Tradewind Aviation, Greenwich Horse Show.

“It’s beautiful how people have reached out after they are gifted an arrangement,” she said. “I’ve had people calling me from Brooklyn, Westport, New Jersey – and last week I had a call from Boston from someone who had seen our arrangements at the Greenwich Horse Show.”

She explained that French Florist is a franchise, with most existing shops located on the west coast.

“We are the first one on the east coast,” she said. “Our branding matters a lot. Our flowers don’t sit long in coolers. They’re flown from Columbia, for example, and put on a truck and available in one day.”

The French Florist is known for their mustard-hued accents including premium French-style wired satin ribbons and tinted kraft wraps that make the natural greens and bright blooms pop. Their arrangements are designed in  premium glass vases and their flowers are the freshest and highest quality.

She said she has enjoyed working with people from the local community.

“We’re a little bit a part of their story. Every day I get to talk to someone who had a baby. Someone saying goodbye. Someone who is writing a letter to his wife on their 40th anniversary. It’s so moving, so touching,” she said. “There is a need in the community for flowers, service and a modern website.”

French Florist delivers to areas including Greenwich, Old Greenwich, Riverside, Stamford, Rye, Harrison, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, Scarsdale and White Plains.

French Florist is located at 604 N Main St, Port Chester, NY, 10573.
