Thursday night got a little bit hairy at Western Middle School. Students, staff, friends and families had their heads shaved and donated pony tails and to raise money for St. Baldrick’s Foundation which has the goal of fighting pediatric cancer. The staff from Montana for Men did the honors, and there were so many volunteer shavees, that the shaving was done four people at a time.

A group of parent musicians from J & the B-Sides entertained everyone with rock music and the GHS cheerleaders gave extra encouragement under the direction of coach and WMS guidance counselor Erin Montague.
The fundraiser was organized by Assistant Principal Kerry Gavin, who had previously organized the event when he was at Greenwich High School.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-powered charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the US government.
