Saturday was seasonable mild, and crowds gathered for the First Light festival in Old Greenwich. Horse drawn carriages traversed Sound Beach Ave from Arcadia to the roundabout by Old Greenwich School, and the smell of freshly popped popcorn, chicken nuggets and chocolate punctuated the air.
There seemed to be far more singing groups and rock bands this year, and merchants took it up a notch in terms of both their creativity and generosity.
At Garden Catering Sinatra was channeled as fans of the famous nuggets and cones line up for samples.
At Images, the JD Southard Band had grown-ups’ feet tapping and children dancing, while guests noshed and mingled among the works of art.

Up at the Rummage Room, a dancing Santa entertained children of all ages.
At Darlene’s Heavenly Desires, owner Isabel Ballesteros greeted guests as the scent of sugar lingered in the doorway and samples of frozen yogurt flew off the counter.
At Old Greenwich Fine Wines & Cheese guests lined up for a sip and a nip. In fact, Rob and Robert have set up a “candy shop” for customers to pull together assortments of mini bottles for the ultimate stocking stuffer.
