The Melody Men of the Retired Men’s Association (RMA) of Greenwich recently gave a special summer performance at the America-250/Greenwich “Sunday in the Park with George” event, serving as one of the opening acts at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park. The group was especially proud to participate in this community celebration, performing three patriotic favorites, including America and America the Beautiful.

The Melody Men have spent the past few months rehearsing and performing throughout the local area as part of their 2026 season titled, “Melody Men and Broadway Hits.” Each year, the group presents between 20 and 30 one-hour performances during the spring and fall seasons. Their repertoire features a blend of pop, country, folk, patriotic, and Broadway show tunes, delighting senior audiences throughout Fairfield and Westchester counties.
The Melody Men’s first public appearance took place more than 50 years ago at the Annual Greenwich Retired Men’s Association Thanksgiving Luncheon in 1975. Since then, they have proudly served as the RMA’s choral community outreach group.
Their regular performance venues include Greenwich Woods, River House, Hill House, The Mews, Nathaniel Witherell, Edgehill, and Waterstone in Stamford, as well as Atria Senior Living communities in Darien, Stamford, Rye Brook, and Woodlands in Ardsley, New York. The Melody Men have also performed the National Anthem before two New York Mets games at Citi Field and have performed at the annual Greenwich Old Timers Dinner.
In addition, the group performs God Bless America each year at the Greenwich Town Party, presents its annual concert at the weekly RMA meeting, and participates in the 9/11 Memorial Service at Cos Cob Park. Last year, the Melody Men also performed for students at Brunswick Lower School, where the children surprised the singers by honoring them with a rendition of the Brunswick School song.
“Our music is a gift we love to share,” said Music Director Tom Healy. “Whether we’re singing for seniors, veterans, students, or the community, our greatest reward is seeing smiles on people’s faces. Bringing happiness through music is what inspires us, and it’s a privilege to volunteer our time doing something we truly enjoy.”
The Melody Men are currently led by Music Director Tom Healy and Arranger and Piano Accompanist Bob Morgan. They are supported by Leadership Team members Tony Cocchi and Joe Mancinelli. Each year, the ensemble includes a rotating roster of 15 to 20 performers. The current returning members are Michael Ambrosino, Charlie Adams, Tony Cocchi, Don Conway, Anders Ekernas, Mike Hayden, Tom Healy, David Michonski, Granville Burgess, Stephen Baum, Bob Curry, Jeff Junker, Doug MacLaury, Joe Mancinelli, Bob Morgan, Bill McKiegan, Bob Phillips, and Horst Tebbe.
Together, the Melody Men generously contributed more than 1,595 volunteer hours in 2025 through rehearsals, performances, and community outreach exclusive of the many other volunteer activities in which these members participate. The performers will begin their fall 2026 season in early October.
