GCDS Builds Coding Community through Computer Science Competition

Greenwich Country Day School (GCDS) hosted its second annual Tiger Hacks, a computer science competition, on Nov. 9 at the GCDS Upper School. The event was student-initiated and organized by three GCDS seniors: Imran Iftikar, Abraham Milgram, and Harrison Servedio. “We noticed a lack of culture and community engagement between local schools, specifically relating to computer science, so we decided to build that culture ourselves,” said the event’s co-founder, Imran Iftikar ‘25. Harrison Servedio ‘25 added, “We created this competition to be open to students of all skill levels, fostering a community where every participant, regardless of experience, feels both challenged and welcomed.” Abe Milgram ‘25 echoed and reaffirmed the purpose of the competition, “It was really important to us to build that collaborative culture around coding, a field that typically does not lend itself to such interaction at this level.”
Approximately 70 students—almost double last year’s participation—competed from seven local schools in the safari-themed event. Continue Reading →
