Ralph Mayo Made Permanent Headmaster at GHS

On Friday Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones announced she had appointed Mr. Ralph Mayo as permanent Headmaster at Greenwich High School, effective immediately.

Mr. Mayo has been serving as Interim Headmaster at Greenwich High School, and will continue to provide oversight and leadership to the Greenwich High School community as permanent Headmaster.

“We are thrilled that Ralph will be our permanent Headmaster at Greenwich High School. He has spent his educational career in Greenwich Public Schools, and brings to this role a true understanding of the needs of our students, working in service to them every day,” said Dr. Jones.

Mr. Mayo has spent his entire teaching and administrative career within the Greenwich Public School system. He has served as the Principal of Eastern Middle School, a House Administrator, Director of Student Activities, Teacher and Special Education Administrator at Greenwich High School, Interim Superintendent for the District and most recently has expanded his teaching experience to serve the greater education community as an adjunct professor at Mercy College.

“It is both an honor and a privilege to be named Headmaster of Greenwich High School,” Mr. Mayo said. “I have realized a long-standing dream of mine to be appointed Headmaster of Greenwich High School, a school which I attended and have worked in for over twenty-seven years. This day would not have been possible without the good counsel I have received from my mentors both in and out of our school district and the members of my family who have supported my efforts throughout my career. GHS is one of the most amazing places to teach and learn in our country and I look forward to collaborating with an outstanding staff of dedicated individuals, supportive and caring parents and the amazingly talented students of our great high school.”

Mr. Mayo holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education and Teaching from Southern Connecticut State University, a Masters in Special Education and Teaching from Fairfield University, a Certificate of Advanced Study, Educational Leadership and Administration from Fairfield University, and has completed the Executive Leadership Program for Educational Leadership and Administration at the University of Connecticut.
