Another Internal Candidate Promoted at Greenwich Schools: PE Coordinator

Greenwich Public Schools Interim Superintendent Ralph Mayo has announced the appointment of Jeremy Boland as the Program Coordinator for the Physical Education, Wellness and Family and Consumer Science programs, Preschool-Grade 12, effective September 4, 2018.

An 18 year educator, with experience teaching at the elementary, secondary and post-secondary levels, Mr. Boland has been with the Greenwich Public Schools since 2006 as a physical education teacher at the International School at Dundee.

“Given his experience with the Greenwich Public Schools and expertise in physical education and wellness, Jeremy Boland will provide strong leadership and opportunities for growth and innovation for this program,” said Chief Academic Officer Irene Parisi in the release.

His knowledge of the departments, curriculum development, and the district is impressive. An advocate for physical education and wellness, he is excited for the opportunity to support teachers, building administrators and students. He will be a tremendous asset to the academic team.”

The Physical Education/Wellness/Family and Consumer Science Program Coordinator is responsible for the development of curriculum, instructional practices and professional learning opportunities for these programs. Administrative candidates are selected after a comprehensive search and appointment process, which includes widespread recruitment efforts, multiple interviews, and extensive reference and background checks.

Bio Brief: Jeremy Boland
A physical education and wellness educator for 18 years, Jeremy Boland began his career at Glenbrook Middle School, Longmeadow, MA (2000-2002). He served as the Physical Education Fellow at Springfield College from 2002-2004, responsible for teaching a variety of undergraduate physical education courses as part of the Exercise Science Department’s course of study.

In 2006, Mr. Boland joined the Greenwich Public Schools as a physical education teacher at the International School at Dundee (ISD). He is the ISD 5k and Obstacle Course Creator and Director, as well as the ISD Grade 3 Ballet Director and a Grade 5 Exhibition Mentor.

Boland is a member of the District’s Curriculum Council and an active participant in the annual Curriculum Institute.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Movement/Physical Education from Westfield State College, Westfield, MA in 1999; a Master of Science degree in Applied Exercise Science from Springfield College, Springfield, MA in 2008; and completed the Educational Leadership Program at Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, CT in 2017.
