Sold Out! Greenwich Continuing Ed Cooking Class Is a Hit!

By Leslie Yager
Amelia Bonacorso loves to cook and though she claims she is not a big fan of pasta — “I like bread,” she admits — the Glenville resident whips up a homemade cheese-filled ravioli without so much as a pasta machine. And despite her modesty, Bonacorso’s cooking classes, available through Greenwich Adult and Continuing Education, have been such a hit that they sell out and waiting lists start. Indeed, Bonacorso’s self deprecating humor belies her talent in the kitchen. In her Wednesday night session held in the Cardinal Cooks kitchens at Greenwich High School, Bonacorso taught women from Greenwich and neighboring towns how to make homemade cheese filled ravioli, garden fresh Checca sauce and orange biscotti with orange glaze. With a delightfully short list of ingredients — all-purpose flour, eggs, extra virgin olive oil, kosher salt and water —  Bonacorso demonstrated how to make pasta dough right on the kitchen counter with nothing more than her bare hands. Paulmeno: Vision for the Democratic Party

letter to the editor - Greenwich Free Press

Stephanie Paulmeno submitted this letter to the editor of Greenwich Free Press. Paulmeno was elected to the District Leader position for District 6 of the Greenwich DTC on March 11.

As we face an election for the Democratic Party Chair, who we select matters. I suggest we look at what our Democratic Party stands for as we seek the best candidate. Idealistic and characteristic differences and motivations between candidates running for office also matter because they become the face of our Party. Who we choose will be a matter of personal preference, but it’s also a factor of political gamesmanship. Continue Reading →

Beat Winter Doldrums with Greenwich Track Club Spring Season

The Greenwich Track Club has announced the days and times for the spring season. Although a little muddy, the club’s Spring programs begin Sunday, March 16. Mini Milers Preschool Program   (March 18 – May 8) Tuesday / Thursday 5:00 – 6:00 at Havemeyer Field
Youth Track Program  (March 16  – May 8) Tuesday / Thursday 5:00 – 6:00 at Havemeyer Track,  Sunday 9:00 – 10:00 at Havemeyer Track
Elite Athletic Conditioning Program  (March 18 – May 8) Tuesday / Thursday 6:00 – 6:30 at Havemeyer Field

Now in its eighth year, the roster at the Greenwich Track Club (GTC) has grown steadily if not exponentially. Led by Bill Bogardus, a Greenwich Public School PE teacher and 2007 Teacher of the Year recipient, growth has benefited from word of mouth, evolving into a four-season, family and service-oriented program that embodies aspects of both club and team. “On a nice spring day you’ll see a hundred of us out for a run,” said club Director Bill Bogardus.
