Getting Crafty at Community Centers, Inc – Valentine Project Tops off a Week of School Vacation Activities

As temperatures dipped in Greenwich, Community Centers, Inc. of Greenwich – CCI for short – was a hotbed of holiday activity on Friday. While children enjoyed a Valentine’s Day craft project, staff and volunteers said they were also busy planning an April 14th fashion show and luncheon at Belle Haven Club.
“Icy Frantz will be a model in the fashion show, and the honorary event chairs are Wendy Stapleton-Reyes and Colleen deVeer from Greenwich International Film Festival (GIFF),” said Carol Memishian, President of the Board of Directors, adding that in addition to luncheon guests will enjoy the fashions of Katie Fong and jewelry of Steven B Fox, and hear a talk by Historian/Author Caroline Rennolds Milbank.

Selectmen Give Thumbs-Up to Natural Disasters Plan that Includes Mitigation for Tsunamis and Earthquakes

At Thursday’s Board of Selectmen meeting, Greenwich’s emergency management director, Dan Warzoha presented the five-year South Western Region Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan. for a vote. He described the plan as “the gateway to FEMA funding in cases of natural disaster,” as it covers the gamut of natural disasters, from tsunamis to earthquakes, as opposed to man made disasters.
