Victorian Summer: The Historic Houses of Belle Haven Park, Greenwich, Connecticut is a decorative coffee table book that makes a thoughtful Greenwich-centric gift.

This compilation of the Historic Houses of Belle Haven started as a self-styled research project for longtime resident Matt Bernard. The effort expanded over the years into an exploration of the architectural heritage of the entire Belle Haven neighborhood and its early history as a Gilded Age summer resort for affluent social titans of the Victorian Era.

The Belle Haven peninsula is home to one of the first and most spectacular residence parks in the country. Its development occurred rapidly, and between 1884 and 1894 Belle Haven Park was transformed from scenic pastureland set above Long Island Sound into a bastion of Victorian luxury. Augustine's Farm on King Street offers freshly cut Christmas trees, wreathes, pointsettias and more. Shop local.Head to Augustine’s Farm for a fresh-cut Christmas tree. Farmer John tells us there is a shortage of trees this year, but he is a longstanding customer of a tree farmer and has a full supply. These trees hold their needles much longer than one from a big box store.

There are also Pointsettias and winter flowers from Kathy’s greenhouse, as well as and wreaths, both decorated and ready to decorate yourself.

Augustine’s is located at 1332 King Street. Bring your tree stand and they will cut your tree to fit, bundle it and load it into your car. If it won’t fit they will deliver it.

Augustine’s Farm is located at 1332 King Street in Greenwich.

At the end of the 50 ft hose attached to the machine inside the Birdie’s Auto Spa mobile van is a gun that cleans with a safe stream of steam for an efficient, and eco-friendly clean-up. Not only does the steam method produce amazing results, but it requires less than one gallon of water to clean a car. Credit: Leslie Yager

Who wouldn’t love to have their car detailed in their own driveway?

Give the gift of a Birdie’s Auto Spa visit. Birdie’s mobile spa comes to the home or office and cleans with steam for an efficient eco-friendly clean up.

When the crew arrives, the contents of the Birdie’s van are simple: the green steam machine with its detachable steam chimney, polishing machine, 50 foot hose and a vast quantity of towels.

Not only does the steam method produce amazing results, but it requires less than one gallon of water to clean a car.

Another service is the hand wax to winterize your car and protect against the salt eating away the clear coat. We were blown away by the results on our 15 year old Mini Cooper. It looked like new.

More information about Birdie’s Auto Spa gift certificates is available online. Call, text or email (914) 438-5729 for an appointment 7 days a week. Find them on Facebook.
