YNet at GHS Explores What is an Abusive Relationship, What is a Healthy Relationship

Good news on the anti-dating violence circuit. YNET club at GHS is huge, drawing both girls and boys to their membership. And though the common refrain, is ‘I’m not even in a relationship, or ‘I’m never let that happen to me, leaders of the club point out that oftentimes, a young person won’t realize their relationship is abusive if they haven’t been taught what comprises a healthy one. Jr. League of Greenwich, Positively More: Practice Kindness, Build Esteem, Make Good Decisions, Have Fun

 

It all started with Positively Me, the Junior League of Greenwich’s esteem-building program for 3rd grade girls from all parts of Town. The program, which is offered free of charge, encourages girls to be confident, make good decisions, be assertive and express themselves, struck a chord, and every year the sessions fill quickly and well in advance. The Junior League subsequently expanded the concept with Positively More aimed toward 6th grade girls. The 11 and 12-year olds can choose between five one-day sessions, all offered on Saturdays (almost all sessions have filled). Positively More aims to give girls the tools to avoid questionable situations, lessen the consequences of potential conflicts and identify lessons learned by those challenges. Continue Reading →

New Tutors on the Block: C2 Education Preps Students for New, Harder SAT and More

A new tutoring business has a storefront beside Cosi at 141 West Putnam Ave in Greenwich. C2 is one of 160 tutoring operations in the US, founded by two Harvard graduates and hatched in, where else but a Harvard dorm room?
