For the fourth consecutive summer, the Greenwich Alliance for Education led a two-week Transition to College “T2C” program for Greenwich High School AVID graduates who will be first-generation college students this fall.
Through interactive workshops and conversations, students prepared for the academic, social, and personal challenges of college life while gaining practical strategies to help make the transition more manageable and successful.

Sessions covered college academics and study skills, campus safety, mental health, healthy relationships, career preparation, financial literacy and budgeting, and interviewing skills.
GHS AVID alumni who are currently attending college returned to serve as mentors, share their experiences, and lead sessions.
Their guidance gave students the opportunity to ask questions, seek honest advice, and learn from peers who have already navigated the transition to college successfully.
At the end of the two weeks, students had greater confidence, stronger connections to AVID alumni and the Greenwich Alliance, and practical tools to arrive on campus ready to learn.

The Alliance will keep in contact with the college freshman to check in on their progress throughout the year.
The Greenwich Alliance gratefully acknowledged its community partner, the Greenwich Dept of Human Services, for providing financial support for the program.
The Alliance also thanked Liberation Programs, The First Bank of Greenwich, and Ivonne Zucco, People and Culture Consultant, for sharing their expertise as presenters.
