A 16-year old boy was hit and killed by a metro-North train Wednesday night.
At approximately 8:00pm the teen was on a rail bridge overpass just south of the Merritt 7 Station in Norwalk.
The train was traveling on the Danbury Branch heading from Danbury to South Norwalk.
MTA Police said the teen was unauthorized to be on the tracks and was accompanied by a 17-year-old and a 20-year-old.
The victim was transported to Norwalk Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The two other individuals with him were charged with trespassing. Service on the line was temporarily suspended during the emergency response and investigation.
According to the Norwalk Fire Dept, when firefighters arrived at the scene, the teen was stuck under a rail car. The train car had very limited access and posed an extreme fall hazard to first responders because it was on the bridge.
Crews removed Ordonez from under the train, and he was rushed to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The two other men he was with were charged with trespassing, MTA police said.
About 25 passengers who were on the train during the incident were transferred to a backup train. The train crew and passengers were not injured.
The 16-year-old victim was officially identified by authorities as Jeffrey Ordonez.
