Parkway School Gives Back: “Parkway Cares” Raises Funds for Neighbor to Neighbor

On Friday, Parkway School students were asked a simple but thought-provoking question during a special assembly: Have you ever been hungry?

When Principal Grandville asked the children to consider what it felt like when, for instance, they had missed lunch or had a late dinner, and many of them raised their hands, it lead to an explanation and discussion about food insecurity right here in Greenwich.

Shortly after, Parkway Cares presented K. Brent Hill, Executive Director of Neighbor to Neighbor for $2,639.

Parkway Cares is a parent-led group at Parkway School focused on helping our small community give back to the larger Greenwich one.

The initiative began with a Halloween costume drive that delivered dozens of costumes to The Sharing Shelf and collected more than 188 pounds of Halloween candy for Kids in Crisis.

Throughout the 2025-2026 school year, Parkway Cares has organized a variety of service projects.

Students created and delivered holiday cards to residents of the Nathaniel Witherell, spreading cheer during the holiday season.

In February, they participated in the Valentines for Vets program by crafting heartfelt cards for veterans.

The group’s first-ever Parkway Cookbook was also a huge success, raising nearly $1,000. Dozens of families contributed their favorite kid-friendly recipes, and even more purchased copies.

Most recently, Parkway Cares organized a hygiene item drive for the Greenwich High School pantry.

The five moms behind Parkway Cares are Susan Bolin Wright, Stephanie Otero, Genevieve Panuska, Erynn Shedlin, and Lydia Maurer.
