Remi Rosmarin wrote and produced her debut comedy short film, “Cut Off,” in 2024. The film follows a free spirited daughter hoping to win her overbearing mother’s approval by searching for a date at her nephews bris. If it sounds silly, that’s because it is.
Remi and her creative partner on the project, Sofie Rimler, met at sleep away camp in 2010. They rekindled in Los Angeles in their mid twenties and as two romantic comedy lovers, they had an itch to write something funny, lighthearted, and rooted in the world they know best.
The film may be inspired by Jewish culture, but the themes are universal.
Remi’s earliest writing memories go all the way back to Parkway School, where her poems were featured in the school paper, The Paw Print Press. Her love of writing took her out to LA to pursue a career in comedy and screenwriting, where she created “Cut Off.” Now she’s back in NYC and committed to telling stories that make people laugh.
“Cut Off” has been in 10+ film festivals around the country. It took home the Audience Award for Best Short Film at the Miami Jewish Film Festival and the Best Ensemble Cast for Narrative Short Award at the Mystic Film Festival. Its now streaming on YouTube here:
