The annual community walk to honor veterans takes place on Saturday at 10:30am, followed by speakers at 11:00am outside the historic former post office. At 1:00pm, the Byram Veterans Association will also host their annual march along Delavan Avenue. A block party to celebrate veterans will follow. All are invited to attend to pay tribute. The 6th annual patriotic community walk on Veterans Day marked 100 years since the end of World War I, which was the topic of remarks by keynote speaker Dean Gamanos. Commander of the American Legion Peter LeBeau talked about Greenwich’s Col Raynal Bolling, whose likeness is immortalized in a statue outside the Havemeyer building. Bolling was the first high-ranking officer of the United States Army to be killed in combat in World War I.
