Storm Update: Snow Emergency Canceled

Update #3:Monday 4:30pm: The snow emergency has been cancelled.

The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved lifting the on street parking ban as of 4:00pm on Monday.

“Upon consultation with the Dept of Public Works Highway division and with sunny weather conditions and a majority of Town roads cleared of snow, the Selectmen agreed to lift the snow emergency at a special meeting Monday afternoon,” the selectmen announced in a statement.

Update #2, Monday 8:00am. Town Hall will open for business as usual at 10:00am.

Update #1 Sunday, 8:45pm: The Board of Selectmen has imposed a snow emergency in Greenwich. The snow emergency goes into effect Sunday 9:00pm and prohibits on-street parking on designated snow emergency routes.**

The parking ban will enable Dept of Public Works crews and its contractors to effectively clear Town roadways.

Residents are advised to park their vehicles in their driveways or in their yards. Residents also may use municipal parking lots to park their vehicles. The snow emergency will remain in effect until the Board of Selectmen, which is the Town’s traffic authority, removes the snow emergency. An announcement on whether the storm will impact office hours for Greenwich Town Hall will be made early Monday morning.

Update 7:45pm: All Greenwich Public Schools are closed on Monday, March 4.

Also closed on March 4 will be King School, Greenwich Academy, Brunswick School, Stanwich School, GCDS and Sacred Heart Greenwich.

Update 5:30pm: NWS forecasts snow before 3:00am, then snow, possibly mixed with freezing rain between 3:00am and 4:00am, then snow likely after 4:00am. Low around 31°. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible.

Greenwich Schools has yet to announce whether school will be canceled or whether there will be a delayed start… Stay tuned.

Expect moderate snow, heavy at times, with total snow accumulation of 5-8 inches.

Travel could be difficult. Hazardous conditions could impact that traveling Sunday night and the Monday morning commute.

The low for Sunday night will be 29°.

On Monday there is a 30% chance of snow before 8:00am and it will be cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 38°.
