Tucked Inside Blankenship Dry Goods, Wall Street Coffee Bar Features 100% Kona Coffee

Step inside Blankenship Dry Goods at 16 Greenwich Avenue and the aromas of cedar and coffee make an impact.

Blankenship, which owner Tory Lenzo opened in 2017, features men’s and women’s apparel, made in America and stitched in New York City.

Add to that a popular optional custom embroidery service, the business is unique.

Lenzo’s display windows feature the popular Tailgaters, pullovers fabricated from a wool cotton berber, with featuring two standard pockets for keys, phones and wallets, plus two bonus beer storage front chest pockets – hence the name.

But the latest addition to the cozy store is the source of the pleasing coffee aromas, Lenzo’s Wall Street Coffee Bar, featuring 100% Kona coffee with beans farmed in Hawaii.

“We wanted to make it consistent – all items are made in the United States,” Lenzo said. “If just so happens that Kona Coffee, from Hawaii, is a deluxe coffee – not something in your typical coffee shop.”

Lenzo explained his coffee is 100% made from Kona Peaberry, which is an oval shaped bean grown in limited supply in Hawaii.

“And it parlays nicely with our garments,” Lenzo said. “Not many people in Greenwich are doing dual coffee with garments, and it appeals to people who appreciate quality.”

Lenzo described Kona coffee as non acidic, non bitter, with a nutty taste – a bit richer in flavor than a typical coffee drink.

“That’s what’s unique – and it’s farmed domestically,” he added. “The Kona Peaberry is the only bean we use.”

Lenzo said he had wanted to add a coffee bar inside his store for awhile. About a month ago his wish was fulfilled.

The beautiful wooden bar was transported all the way from Texas.

The coffee bar menu, engraved on a slice of wood, features a variety of drinks including coffee, latte, cappuccino, macchiato and espresso, as well as tea and smoothies.

“The pricing is fair,” Lenzo said. “People really appreciate the price points and we have loyalty cards as well – buy 10 get one free.”

Lenzo said customers have been pleasantly surprised, and he is determined to be a source of coffee drinks people can rely on, daily.

“Fair price, fair trade,” he said. “That’s important.”

“All our drinks are named after New York City landmarks, historical sites and neighborhoods,” he continued. “And as you know, all of our garments are made in New York City, so Wall Street Coffee, with the raging bull logo, is something of a spinoff of the brand itself.”
