Pedestrian Death in Stamford Follows Collision on High Ridge Rd

Stamford Police announced that a pedestrian who was hit by a car on High Ridge Road at about 6:50am on Tuesday has died.

Police say a 2012 Chevy Suburban was traveling southbound when the pedestrian, identified as Cesar Cabrera-Guzman, a 48 year-old Stamford resident, was crossing High Ridge Rd near the intersection with Janice Road. The Suburban struck Mr. Cabrera-Guzman, leaving him with life threatening injuries.

The collision was witnessed by off-duty Stamford Police Lt. James Comstock, who was also traveling southbound on High Ridge Rd. Lt. Comstock called for EMS to respond and exited his vehicle. Comstock attempted life-saving measures until EMS arrived and transported the pedestrian to Stamford Hospital, where life-saving measures continued. Unfortunately, Mr. Cabrera-Guzman succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The operator of the Chevy Suburban, a 58 year-old Wilton resident remained on scene, and is cooperating with the investigation.
