Riverside School Hosts 24th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony

On Monday, November 11, 2024, Riverside School hosted its annual Veterans Day Ceremony to honor local veterans. The ceremony opened with remarks from Riverside Principal Jason Martín, followed by the raising of the flag by Greenwich Police Chief Jim Heavey.

Students with relatives who served in the military presented flowers to those family members. Chief Heavey then laid a wreath to honor fallen service men and women while “Taps” was performed by local resident Vin Lukason.

Steve Kilcullen, the father of former Riverside students, gave remarks to current students about what it means to “serve,” and encouraged students to find their own way to serve their communities.

Attendees also enjoyed musical performances by the Riverside School Chorus. The event was well-attended, with a crowd that included First Selectman Fred Camillo, local veterans, Riverside School students, parents, and staff.
